About Brainerd Housing Authority

Public Housing
The Brainerd HRA owns and manages approximately 200 units of public housing including the North Star Apartments, Scattered Sites, and Valley Trail.

HCV/Section 8
The Brainerd HRA has 320 Housing Choice Vouchers. Eligible families find their own rental unit in Crow Wing County. The unit must meet Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and the landlord must agree to participate in the program.

Brainerd South
Brainerd South Apartments features 60 one & two bedroom apartments located at 1969 and 1987 South 7th Street.

Housing Rehab
Are you looking for funds to fix up your house? The Brainerd HRA administers several different housing rehabilitation programs.

Redevelopment
The Brainerd HRA has been involved in several redevelopment projects including ISD 181, Franklin Art Center and the Short Elliot Hendrickson building on South 6thStreet. The Brainerd HRA uses Tax Increment Financing and other financial tools to support redevelopment in Brainerd.
